# Files

> Keep a project's drawings, documents and media together, preview them in place, and find any file across your workspace.

Files keeps a project's references and deliverables in one place: drawings, PDFs,
images, spreadsheets, video and audio. Uploads from chat, Studio outputs, snapshots and
plugin documents land here too. Every member of the project sees the same files, and
so do [connected agents](/docs/developers/mcp#exchange-project-files).

You'll find Files in two places:

* **In the editor**: the **Files** tab in the side rail, for the project you have open.
* **In an organization workspace**: **Files** in the sidebar, under **Workspace**. It
  opens [editor.pascal.app/files](https://editor.pascal.app/files), the library for
every project in the organization. Personal workspaces don't have this page; use the
  editor's Files tab instead.

## Files in the editor

The **Files** tab lists **This project** first, then **Workspace files** from your other
projects. Search matches file names, tags and project names. Narrow the list by type
with the filter menu (**All files**, **Documents**, **Images** and more).

To add files, drag them into the panel or click **+** at the top of the panel. Open a file to view it in its own tab beside the 2D and 3D views, or choose
**Open beside** from its menu to see it next to the scene. Rename or remove a file from
the same menu.

## The workspace Files page

The workspace Files page lists every file in the organization's projects, newest first.

* **Search**: type in **Search files or projects…** to match file names, notes, tags
and project names across the whole workspace.
* **Filter**: pick a project from **All projects**, or a format from **All file types**
(CAD drawings, PDF documents, images, text and code, CSV and TSV tables, video, audio,
  3D files).
* **Sort**: newest or oldest first, name A–Z or Z–A, largest or smallest first.
* **More results**: click **Load more files** at the bottom of the list.

Click a file to preview it. The project name on each row opens that project.

### Upload files

1. Click **Upload files**.
2. Under **Add to project**, choose the project the files belong to.
3. Drop files into the dialog, or browse for them.

Each file shows its progress. Cancel an upload in flight, and use **Retry remaining**
for any that failed or were canceled. Files can be up to 500 MB. SVG isn't accepted;
upload PNG, JPEG or PDF instead.

### Rename or delete

Open a file's **⋯** menu:

* **Preview** opens the file in place.
* **Open original** opens the file itself in a new tab.
* **Rename** changes the name; the format stays the same.
* **Delete** asks you to confirm, then removes the file from its project. This can't be
undone. A Studio output you delete also disappears from Studio. Copies already used in
  scenes or conversations may remain.

## Previews

Files opens these formats in place, both in the editor and on the workspace page:

| Format | What you can do |
| - | - |
| DWG and DXF | Pan, zoom, fit to view and show or hide layers |
| PDF | Page through, zoom, fit to width, rotate and select text |
| Images | Zoom and fit |
| CSV and TSV | Search rows, sort columns, page through, use the first row as headers |
| Text, Markdown and JSON | Read as plain text |
| Video and audio | Play with the standard controls |

Other formats stay in the list; use **Open original** to open them in their own app.

A few limits apply:

* Drawings show 2D model space only. Layouts, external references, fonts and some CAD
objects can look different from the original. Drawings up to 64 MiB preview.
* Text and table previews work for files up to 2 MiB. Tables show up to 10,000 rows and
  200 columns.
* A password-protected or damaged PDF offers the original file instead.
